If you suffer from allergies, inform your dentist!
If you suffer from food allergies or other types, you will surely be used to watching at gatherings with friends, in the supermarket, in restaurants or any other place so that you will not buy or not to be served something you are allergic to.
But there is still a part, not so obvious, that you need to be careful about. And this is the dental office. Whether it is a simple cleaning or any other treatment, you may come in contact with potentially dangerous substances if you are allergic.
Here are some key examples:
Gluten: If you are suffering from gluten intolerance or allergy, ask your dentist if your polishing paste contains gluten, since many of them contain.
Metals: If you suffer from a metal allergy, remember that some dental crowns, some dental bridges and some dental fillings are made of metal. So if your dentist puts you a metal, it will cause an allergic reaction to the gums that will not go away if the object is not removed. So instead of all this hassle, just tell the dentist so that the materials that will put in your mouth do not contain minerals, for example, instead of a porcelain fused metal crown you could get an all-ceramic crown.
Acrylic: Acrylic is often used in temporary work. If you know you have an allergy to it, tell your dentist to use something else eg. resin.
Eugenol: Eugenol is often used in cements. If you notice gum symptoms, such as superficial ulceration or inflammation, you may be allergic to eugenol. Tell your dentist immediately.
Epinephrine: Used in local anesthetics. It can cause an increase in pulses and anxiety in people who are allergic or hypersensitive to it. If you feel this way, tell your dentist.
Latex: If you have a latex allergy, tell your doctor to use latex-free gloves and polishing pastes.
To make a long story short, if you are allergic to any of the above or any other substance, do not forget to inform your dentist on time.
